GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES The Gulf Coast Community College Foundation, Inc. awards scholarship to students in "advance" based on a commitment to follow all established scholarship enrollment and grade point (GPA) guidelines. Any deviation from the guidelines may require the student to refund all or part of the scholarship award. This may also affect all future scholarship awards. If you would like to know the requirements (hourly enrollment or GPA) of a particular scholarship, please call the Foundation Office at (850) 872-3815 or (850) 872-3810. STUDENT REGISTRATION It is the student's responsibility to be enrolled at Gulf Community College (GCCC) in order to receive scholarship check. TO APPLY The application period for the 2007-2008 is closed. Applications for the 2008-2009 academic year will be available beginning January 1, 2008. Application deadline is March 1, 2008. SCHOLARSHIP CATEGORIES * Academic - to students with an accumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher (unweighted). * Academic Potential - to deserving students with an accumulative GPA between 2.0 to 3.49. * Financial Need - to deserving students with financial need. Students applying for a scholarship based on financial need must attach a copy of their estimated family contribution (EFC) Student Aid Report Form, which is obtained as a part of the Pell Grant process. The EFC may increase your chances of receiving a Foundation Scholarship if economic need is established. * High School Honors - to graduating high school students who plan to attend GCCC in the fall semester immediately preceding their graduation and who have the highest weighted GPA of the eligible applicant pool for a particular high school. * High School Partnership - to graduating high school students who plan to attend GCCC in the fall semester immediately preceding their graduation and who have demonstrated leadership traits while attending school. These scholarships are chosen by representatives of the student's high school. HOURLY ENROLLMENT QUALIFICATIONS * Full-time Students - Recipients must enroll in a minimum of 12 hours per semester. * Part-time Students - Recipients must enroll in 5 to 11 hours per semester. * Culinary Management or Health Sciences Students - Recipients must enroll in 7 or more hours to be eligible for a full-time scholarship award. SCHOLARSHIP DURATION Scholarships are awarded for one (1) academic year only (fall and spring semesters) unless otherwise stated in the award letter, and students must reapply for a Foundation Scholarship for any subsequent academic year. The only exception is this: If the recipient of a "High School Honors Scholarship" has maintained the required 3.0 GPA, the student does not need to reapply for the scholarship for the subsequent academic year. PAYMENT AND AMOUNT OF GENERAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS General Foundation scholarship awards are paid to students at the beginning of each semester (fall and spring). Students must pick up their checks no later than thirty (30) days after issuance. Scholarship amounts may vary from year to year. The 2008-2009 amounts for Full-time and Part-time scholarships will be determined by the Foundation in early January 2008.
